Not enough time for yourself? For your hobby, sports, looking for a new job, doing the dishes, cleaning the house, or meeting friends?
Simply not enough hours in a day it sometimes seems .. But how many minutes, no how many hours a day do you get rid of nonsense? Or do nothing at all?
For many people, including myself, there’s a very easy way to free more time for useful and fun things without sacrificing other important things … and that’s stopping snoozing .
Spend less time in your bed !!
Of course, a good night’s sleep is very important to be well functioning and productive throughout the day. It’s even essential to your health! By restoring enough sleep and maintaining a healthy energy level. insufficient sleep will result in health problems, and lower productivity and effectiveness throughout the day.
But there are, of course, ways to spend less time without sacrificing your actual “sleep time”.
I’m actually talking about optimizing the effectiveness of your sleep, ie your “Sleep Effectiveness”, an understanding that you will encounter more often in this blog and on the website. Sleep Effectiveness, or sleep efficiency , is simply the percentage of your time spent in bed that you actually sleep. There are many ways to increase this sleep efficiency, for example, you might lower the time you wake up before falling asleep.
Logical first step
For me personally there was one very logical first step to turn around. The “easiest” way (still difficult) to spend less time in my bed. I had made myself a habit “master”. To snooze each morning several times before I left my bed. And several times was just half an hour to an hour !! How are you?
Snooze, a bad habit
Every morning I snoozed about 40 minutes, during this “snooze time” you are totally unsuccessful sleeping, you are not in a deep sleep when you sleep. During this time, you are not really building any energy at all. It simply means that you are wasting more than half an hour of your day or night. If you need more sleep at a time, turn the alarm clock just half an hour later! Instead of booking a half hour for snoozing …
So I’ve figured out just stopping snoozing alone with my sleep effectiveness, which resulted in an increase of my sleep quality with only 8%.
Time is valuable
so why should we deal with this?
Stopping snoozing means in my case half an hour later to bed (or earlier) without incurring my night’s rest. Now that I am writing this to me, I realize, more and more, how bad it has been that I have done this over and over again, for as long as I can remember, I will have been for 10 years. Now I can calculate how much time I wasted (and okay I did that right away). But, of course, it’s a lot more fun and more positive to calculate how much time I get for free over the next 10 years and for nothing to spend more useful things!
10years x 365days x 30minutes = 109,500 minutes = 1825year = 76days = hibernation
There is time to win!
Yes and this is just by stopping snoozing! And there are many more ways to increase the effectiveness of your sleep.
I spend about 8 hours a day in bed, of which I have a half snoozde. In addition, I also wake up to half an hour before I sleep. Also, I regularly wake up at night which means I’m not in a deep, effective sleep. This is usually normal, and will be discussed in later articles (for example, the Sleep Cycle ). But there are ways to increase your sleep efficiency .
So it should be very feasible to reduce my time in bed from about 8 hours to 6.5 hours or maybe even up to 6 o’clock without compromising my sleep!
365 days x 90 minutes = 32.850 minutes = 547.5 hours = 23 days = I LIKE
For an average time in bed of 6.5 hours it is therefore 23 days. Huh, yes, 23 days a year! That’s more than the average person has on holidays! That’s a good deal of time to do the dishes, clean the house, play sports, or whatever you do not have time for now.
do not change your life!
But to achieve this, of course, more effort is needed than simply stopping snoozes.
