7 COMMON SLEEP PROBLEMS
Not for everyone is good sleep very ordinary. Almost everyone has sleep problems and about half the people do not sleep as they would like. And that’s pretty much! But what are we talking about and what are the most common sleep problems?
A sleep problem is not a sleep disorder
A sleep problem does not have to be a sleep disorder immediately. Only if someone has a sleep problem for a longer period of time and the problems are chronic, we speak of a sleep disorder.
An example of a sleep disorder that is common is sleep apnea . In the case of apnea, someone has a disturbed breathing during the night. Another example is narcolepsy , with someone continuously having the urge to fall asleep. In this article, we limit ourselves to the sleep problems we almost all have to deal with. The one has only a greater degree of harm than the other.
Common sleep problems
A sleep disorder occurs less often than a sleep problem. In fact, I would like to say that almost everybody has problems sleeping.Undoubtedly, you also recognize one or more of the sleep problems below.
1. Sleep shortage
A sleep shortage is exactly what it says and arises if you have not slept too much. This may be due to a busy week at work or a weekend party, but it may also come in slowly without realizing it. This occurs when you spend just as little sleep every night for a long period of time and build up a shortage of time. A sleep shortage can have a lot of influence on your body. Even after sleeping one night, your ability to concentrate can slow down, your immune system becomes weaker and you can respond more emotionally to events.
2. Too much sleep
Yes, too, that can. And sleeping too much is not so good for you, though it seems so delicious. The complaints related to a ‘sleep overflow’ include: cardiovascular problems (such as high blood pressure and heart disease), metabolic disorders and diabetes. Just get up when the alarm clock goes on! An hour later on in the weekend is delicious, but do not try to lie to bed all morning.
3. Do not fall asleep
Do you know that you really need to sleep, but it just does not work? That you have to get up early and fresh, but you can not sleep? Do not fall asleep is a terribly annoying problem which, in my view, suffers from everybody. Fortunately, there are several things you can to help you fall asleep easier. 4. Often wake up
Perhaps you do not have any problems falling asleep and getting up, but you wake up very often at night. If you can not sleep well at night – for example, by noise, nightmares , peeing, physical complaints or simply because you do not sleep deeply – you feel tired and exhausted when waking up. You do not feel like you’ve really slept. You are not well equipped and, logically, this will lead to great fatigue during the daytime.
5. To wake up too early
You wake up at 5 o’clock and can not sleep anymore? Wake up too early is not always nice. The reasons for this may be different. Perhaps you have a thrilling day and your body is too alert, or are you distracted by ambient sounds around that early age? Of course it can also be your rhythm. I do not really manage to sleep on weekends. Now I usually do not think that’s a problem because I like to have something in my day. But even when I’m on my way to bed, I’ll wake up early. And that’s a pity 🙂
6. Difficult to get up
I sometimes keep it difficult. Certainly in winter when it’s cold and dark and the alarm goes way too early, I often type a snooze button. Not everyone is a morning person, and not everybody jumps out of bed in the morning. Why stand up for some (or many) is so difficult? This is largely due to shifting sleep wake-up, with melatonin playing an important role.
If it gets dark in the evening, our body makes melatonin (also called sleep hormone). If you are very active in the evening (eg sports). Or if you’re still exposed to blue light from, for example, your smartphone, the production of melatonin is suppressed. Your body will only come into sleep mode. And that has an effect on falling asleep as well as getting up in the morning. In the morning, under the influence of light, the waakhormone becomes cortisol which makes us wake up. Therefore, in winter it is also difficult (read unnatural) to get up early when it is still dark.
7. Excessive snoring
Do you suffer from a snoring partner? Extremely annoying! We do not hear our own sniffing … Snoring is caused by an obstruction in the throat and can cause many sleepless nights (especially with the partner). Fortunately snoring can often be addressed by living healthier. For example, by dropping off or banning bad habits like smoking and drinking from your life. Furthermore, there are several tools on the market including nose spreaders, bits and even an online exercise program to train the muscles in the throat.
